Maggie Haberman is a senior political correspondent who joined The New York Times in 2015 and was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for reporting on Donald Trump’s advisers’ connections to Russia. She was part of a team that was a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in 2021 for coverage of the Trump administration’s handling of the coronavirus. She is the author of “Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America.” Before joining The Times, Ms. Haberman worked as a political reporter at Politico and also at The New York Post and The New York Daily News.
Laura Coates is CNN’s chief legal analyst and anchor, currently hosting the 11 pm show “Laura Coates Live.” She is the author of “Just Pursuit: A Black Prosecutor’s Fight for Fairness” and “You Have the Right: A Constitutional Guide to Policing the Police.” Before turning to journalism, Laura began her legal career as a media lawyer at Faegre & Benson in Minnesota, and then went to Washington where she worked as a federal prosecutor for the DOJ, a trial attorney in its Civil Rights Division, and as an AUSA for the District of Columbia.
The dinner program will also feature remarks by Jason Conti, EVP and GC for Dow Jones, followed by a video on Evan Gershkovich, the Wall Street Journal reporter wrongfully detained in Russia on an unfounded espionage charge.
This Dinner is our only fundraiser, so its success is critical to our efforts in robustly defending free speech and a free press in these challenging times. Thank you, as always, for your generous support.
