In-House Counsel, Daily Mail (MailOnline)

The Daily Mail has an opening for an experienced media lawyer/litigator to work with one of the most popular news sites in the US. The role will be full-time and the successful candidate will be based in our New York offices.

Candidates must have at least 5 years post-qualification experience advising journalists, editors and/or media companies on both pre-publication risk and post-publication defense of content. Candidates will be able to demonstrate experience and confidence in conducting pre-publication review of on-line news reports, videos and podcasts, as well as reviewing and advising our US-based news teams on investigative and newsgathering proposals. Candidates must show a proven track record in defamation, privacy, access and copyright (fair use) and will also have significant experience in reviewing and advising on post-publication issues such as retraction demands, takedown requests, subpoenas, copyright infringement claims, and other legal threats and challenges.

We are looking for a hard-working, team-player who is passionate about news and media; confident advising and interacting with our senior news management teams in the US; and has a proven ability to give clear, succinct, and timely advice.
