Associate, Miller Korzenik Sommers Rayman LLP

MKSR, a law firm exclusively committed to media representation, seeks an associate with 3 or more years of experience. Our firm is devoted almost entirely to the representation of news organizations, publishers, and producers of a wide variety of creative content across many different media.

The firm consists of eight attorneys. All of us work exclusively, with minor exceptions, on media matters – managing claims, defending content in litigations, handling transactional matters, providing pre-publication review, guiding editors on pre-publication threats, and counseling news organizations on newsgathering issues. We have broad experience in litigating and defending the reporters’ privilege in state and federal courts (civil and criminal) around the country. First Amendment and copyright issues are at the forefront of the firm’s practice. We will not take on libel claims for any plaintiffs and will not take on matters that might be adverse to any colorable fair use defense.  MKSR has broad experience in managing and defending international claims and threats against media in areas of libel, copyright, newsgathering and privacy in countries such as UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Israel, India and Ireland.

We seek an energetic attorney with some media law experience in these areas who values high quality journalism and who manifests a personal commitment to freedom of expression for creators of content. Strong writing skills are critical. MKSR attorneys have taught entertainment and media law and journalism and make a point of writing about the areas of law in which we practice. We seek a colleague with similar commitments, values and capabilities.
